Welcome to www.HydrateYourActor.com

You are an Actor.
That’s what you are, right?
Wrong.

You are a person.

You are a person who, among other things, has an Actor Self who loves the terror/thrill  and pain/pleasure of offering your mind, body and soul to the mercy of the gods…well, the audiences. Bless your soul and good luck to you. It’s a tough gig, if you can get one.

As a person with an Actor Self, it’s your job to look after your Actor. Your Actor is a vulnerable, emotional, free-spirited, moody, self-indulgent, wide-eyed and naïve Self. You must look after your Actor. You must guide, train, mentor, cheer, coach, and care for your Actor Self. This is a huge responsibility and an overwhelming undertaking. However, it is your Actor and if you want your Actor Self to run a good race, keep up the pace and eventually lead the pack, it’s your job to hydrate your Actor.
That’s right. It’s your job.

How on earth do you Hydrate Your Actor? By feeding your mind, body and soul.

This blog is dedicated to Motivating and Inspiring Actors to:
•    seek out the acting lessons in everyday life
•    stimulate and fulfill themselves first in order to develop the most powerful and compelling Actor Self
•    empower themselves by making constructive choices in their own lives

So let’s jump in together and find ways to nurture our Actor Selves. Let’s take active, constructive steps to gain awareness, foster growth, and Empower our selves - because god knows Empowered is something we Actors rarely feel, and it’s high time we did.

We do not have to sit around and simply wait for that big break or the next paycheck. We can empower ourselves by creating the lifestyle we desire and actively changing our own lives.

Our Actor Selves need us. They require us to look after them for the long run ahead. And we, creative (and sadistic) persons that we are, are up for the challenge.
Right?
RIGHT.

DHARINI WOOLLCOMBE

My name is Dharini Woollcombe and I am the creator and writer of Hydrate Your Actor. Although I am a working actor I continue to struggle with the two extremes of acting: I am either trying to keep motivated in between gigs, or trying not to get overwhelmed when the acting contracts  take over my life. As Actors we live in the unknown and the chaos, the euphoria and the devastation. How do you keep yourself balanced and sane? How do you keep yourself inside the journey?

This is a place for us. Right here, we might draw inspiration, hope and courage. These words that I offer you are ideas, reminders and a call to push yourself in to action. There is strength in numbers and I believe that by journeying forth together, we will find the strength  to  continue to dream big. We will not sway, we will not give up, we will not let go of that deep belief that we have something to offer. Something that is irreplaceable, precious, and profoundly powerful.

We are a community of Actors. Together we can face the unknown, the unpredictable and the uncharted. Together we can keep ourselves going when the going gets tough, keep our feet on the ground and remind ourselves that the journey is the goal, the journey is where the lessons will be found, and the journey is where we will find ourselves.

In this space I offer my voice to you and your Actor Self. Together let us hold on to our hopes, build our strength, continue to live our dreams and create our lives.

Together, let’s Be Inspired.
